MyEngine is a program that lets you use your CarPC as a trip computer with engine-diagnostic functions. MyEngine reads data through the diagnostic connector (DLC1 or DLC2) via the Toyota Data Stream protocol (OBD I standard). Most Toyota vehicles produced before 1998 (before switching to OBD II) are equipped with this protocol.
Any computer with a CPU of at least 1 GHz running Windows XP∕Vista∕7 will work with MyEngine. The program is undemanding in terms of RAM or storage. The computer must have a hardware COM port; if it does not, you will need a USB-to-COM port emulator.
The program is free for personal use!

In addition, MyEngine can display raw flag parameters from the Toyota Data Stream protocol. Such parameters start with digits – XX.Y, where XX is the byte number and Y is the undecoded bit.
The accuracy of calculations and displayed data depends on many factors: cable build quality, connection reliability, interference from the engine and other vehicle mechanisms, and (!) driving style (the smoother you drive, the more accurate the distance and fuel-consumption calculations). In any case, do not rely completely on the distance and fuel-consumption values reported by MyEngine.
Locate the VF1 (ENG), TE2 and E1 pins in the diagnostic connector. DLC1 is usually in the engine bay; DLC2 is under the steering column. Connect the assembled cable to the computer and the vehicle’s DLC connector as per the diagram above.
Start MyEngine and switch the ignition on. The Check-Engine light on the instrument panel often flashes (if not, check the cable and connection). The current coolant temperature will appear in the Temperature field of MyEngine’s main window. Start the engine.

While MyEngine displays diagnostic parameters in real time, full engine analysis needs more. For data collection and analysis (graphs, logging, frame-by-frame playback) use CarTester 8000, developed by chem407 with improvements by Fuse.
The project was hosted at http://rocketman.by.ru/, but the free by.ru hosting was closed on 1 December 2011. You can download the archived program here: Download CarTester 8000
